Supplies:
NOTE: You won’t be quilting your “fat quarter” quilt in class, but to complete it you will need backing fabric and batting for a 26” x 30” quilt and 1/4 yard of fabric for binding.
- Fabric:
- One fat quarter focus fabric; for instance: patriotic, Christmas, Mardi Gras
- 1/4 yard each of four coordinating fabrics to go with focus fabric (long quarters work better than fat quarters for this)
- Neutral colored thread for piecing, grey or cream depending on your fabric choices
- Rotary Cutting Equipment:
- Mat
- Favorite ruler or two (I like Omnigrid 6” x 12” and 4” x 8”)
- Rotary cutter
- General Sewing Supplies:
- Measuring tape (I use one that is 120” long so I only have to have one, no matter how big the quilt)
- Straight pins
- Seam ripper
- Small scissors or thread snips
- Extra sewing machine needles, size 80 (Schmetz microtex sharp needles work very well)
- Owner’s manual for your machine for reference
- Sewing machine — cleaned, oiled and ready to sew!
