Fluff & Stuff, Machine Quilting with Paula Reid, 1hr. 28 mins.

Is that stack of quilt tops getting higher and higher? Have you always wanted to take your machine quilting skills beyond the “ditch”? Do you want to learn free motion quilting? Have you seen Paula demonstrating machine quilting on Simply Quilts and wished the episode was longer?

Now you can learn the basics and more in your home as Paula walks you through batting choices, the types of needles and thread, how to pin baste correctly, choosing stencils, quilting, and moving those BIG quilts through a standard size home sewing machine.

Paula quilts approximately 100 quilts a year for her customers. About 75% of those quilts are at least double bed size. She uses her Fluff & Stuff method to move those big quilts through the machine and she will show you how to start Fluffing & Stuffing too!

DVD is viewable on both a DVD player and a computer.  The bonus material is accessed by placing the DVD in your computer.  It includes the following PDF-format material:

  • Tools of the Trade:  Batting
  • Tools of the Trade:  Needles
  • Tools of the Trade:  Thread

Purchase the DVD with a set of Quilt Sew Easy Discs and save $2 off retail.  The Discs are a valuable notion highlighted in the video.

You've seen Paula on "Simply Quilts" demonstrating her tips and tricks for fuss-free
machine quilting.    Now come quilt with her and learn those techniques in person at
the Batts in the Attic quilting retreats to be held in April and October of 2005!

For those who would rather piece than quilt,  Carol Tarras of 3 Crazy Ladies will be
teaching the latest and greatest in Square-in-a-Square piecing techniques.    Carol
has just returned from a Square  in  a Square  teachers conference with Jodie Bar-
rows in Texas and she is just full of new and exciting ideas for you!

Paula Reid:  Often      described as an "artist with a sewing machine," Paula is a custom heir-
loom quilting specialist. See her on the "Simply Quilt" episodes #330, #511, and #539 for fun projects, tips and techniques that you'll love!
Carol Tarras:  Owner of  3CrazyLadies, Carol is a certified teacher/
consultant for the Square in a  Square technique.  She has
been quilting, teaching,
and lecturing for years and has come to enjoy
sharing time-saving
techniques with others!
Over the past five years, Paula has quilted
approx- imately three tops per week for her customers. Paula is not a "formula quilter"-
quilt in the ditch and scatter little motifs here
and there - but prefers to look at the top as a whole and design a quilting plan to enhance the piecing.
At first, heirloom feathers and other intricate designs done in free-motion were her favorites,
but she now finds herself doing very con- temporary work in novelty threads and other
surface embellishments as well.  Paula will
teach you to look at quilts and quilting in a
whole new way, too!
At 3CrazyLadies, Carol has had the opportunity
to participate in many different facets of the quilting world.  From developing original quilt patterns and block-of-the-month programs, to stocking a quilt show booth, to teaching for shops and guilds, she has contributed to the love of quilting many of us enjoy.
As a Certified Teacher for Square in a  Square, she has participated in the development of Square in a Square patterns/books and has worked on future projects. She has had her quilts in numerous quilt shows, including juried shows such as Road to California (her first Square in a Square quilt).
